Police assistance?

Monday
Sep 29,2008

This week is the second last week of the first semester of Ateneo de Davao University college department. The school where my third daughter is in second year taking up Business Administration. Within this week they will have final examination, things that made her very busy. Yesterday she went to school to make props for their presentation. She brought bunch of bamboo sticks and hammer. Her Dad even teases her that, she is having sideline work being a carpenter in the next block, to earn some extra cash. She left the house in the morning and return in the evening very tired and her arm, legs and hands are stained with color navy blue and yellow paint. When she enters the house I am watching television but my attention was diverted to her. I prepared her food so she can eat her dinner.

After she ate she came to our room and lie down on our bed beside her Dad. That’s the usual thing she does before she goes to her bedroom to sleep. She giggles and started to narrate her experienced, after her Dad noticed her hands in blue and yellow. She told us that on her way home nobody wants to set beside her in the jeep. She feels conscious because, she thinks she smells bad because she perspired a lot during the day. But then it was later did she realized that everybody distances her, because of the hammer she is bringing. She just carries the hammer unwrapped because she, lost the plastic bag of it and too lazy to find one. It was the woman with two children who made her realized that it was the hammer that she brings and her dirty looks that drove away the co-passenger to set afar from her. The woman according to my daughter Carla scolded her older girl when she attempts to set beside her. The mother even pinches the arm of her daughter.

My goodness her father exclaimed better nobody calls 911 for police assistance, just teasing her again. We then laugh, and she adds that even the driver was very careful when she gave her fare. We then laugh again, Carla said, they all think I’m gone crazy. Though we are laughing at the event, I came to think that the woman is just after the safety of her children. Though it’s not right to speculate right away or jump into conclusion but mother is always a mother. Thanks God my Carla is a smart girl not taking those action to humiliate her, instead she had learned, it’s not good to bring something that may triggers fear of others.

Happy Sunday turns weary

Monday
Sep 22,2008

Yesterday I woke up as my usual time 4: oo o’clock in the morning. I was happy preparing our breakfast and thinking some happy thoughts. After I’ve done everything for breakfast I drunk my first coffee mug, I was alone then since my children and husband still in bed sleeping soundly. I just let my kids enjoy their bed, anyway it’s Sunday my three kids won’t go to school the other has no office work, and my husband won’t work either.

After my coffee I go out from the house since I have to sweep dead leaves around the yard. After sweeping I’m about to get my garden tools when our telephone rang, I rush to our bedroom so ring won’t disturb my husband it was just five forty-five in the morning. It was my niece in law who calls me informing us that Bebeng died. Bebeng is a paternal first cousin of my husband. I was shocked I can’t believe it happened to her but true. I woke up my husband and told him about the news. My husband can’t believe too. He called back to his brother’s house to confirm the news.

It was unbelievable and painful to lose a relative and a friend like Bebeng. She is a fat woman so contented with her size like me. She is a happy person full of hope and energy. When I last met her at the wedding of my niece in law three years ago. We talked so much on our way to church and in the reception we sat on the same table. Our conversation was so happy but never did she have mention that she had been diagnosed with diabetes. That was the last time we’ve met, I didn’t realize that the next time we see each other, it’s only me who can see. My husband and I love her.

We went to the funeral yesterday; I cried because I lose somebody, I know who is a real person, simple but very nice inside and out. I see her face, in her coffin she rested in there calmly as if smiling at you. We learned from her sister Inday that she was stroked last Friday on her slept and she died last Saturday afternoon. I know God gave her a death not so hard, but we will miss her.
