Help your Kids Organize their Bags

Sunday
Mar 8,2009

help-your-kids-organize-their-bagsWaking up early to get the kids ready for a school is hard enough. But then, there’s the extra trouble of hunting for a pair of scissors for art class. Well here are some tips on how to help your kids organize their bags, making weekday mornings less harried.

  • Have enough room for everything. The bag may be cute, but if it’s not going to hold all your child’s things, you’re better off with another.
  • Pockets keep school supplies in order. Lots of outside pockets keep your kid’s school things organized. Help him assign pockets for different things. Once he’s assigned a pocket for something, have him stick to it. Ran out of pockets? Use zippered containers and put them inside the bag’s main compartment. This way your child doesn’t end up with a pile of rubble at the bottom of his bag.
  • Proper packing. Teach your kids to pack their school things properly. Not only will this maximize school bag space, it will also make it easier to find needed things. Book should be arrange by height and label the top and sides of your kids’ books and notebooks, so they’re easy to identify whichever way they’re packed.

    Sunday

My daughter surprised me when she came home last February without even giving a hint. Well, she did two days before that day, we called her, but she is rushing and just said we will talk on Sunday. Her siblings, however, still want to talk to her. But, like my call she keeps on insisting a call on Sunday and end the call. And we gave up; we just have to wait on Sunday. When Sunday comes, a big knock wakes us up on six in the morning. My daughter and her fiance arrived. She brings present doughnuts and a weight loss pill. Naughty girl, she surprised me even more. Well, she just stayed for a night and travel back again.

Maintaining blog is not only writing thoughts and ramblings. It is also a good way of checking online friends and saying my hellos to them. It makes feel better greeting them and knowing what is going on their life. Today, I have learned that one of my online buddies is on a vacation. Actually she just checks in, in a nearby New York City hotel just blocks away from her apartment. She is doing this every time boredom tries to engulf her. This is a nice way of relaxing. It costs less than having to travel somewhere far which of course gives another level of excitement. I’d better try that one.

  • 5 things Kids Learn in Preschool

    Saturday

5-things-kids-learn-in-preschoolSome parents remain sceptical about preschool. To them, preschools seem more like well-equipped drop-off kid centers. Yet play is the ideal and most fun way for kids to develop crucial academic and social skills. Here are some important things that kids learn in preschool:

    1. How to be a student. Rules and routines are designed to teach children the proper way to conduct themselves in a classroom. They also learn how to control their impulses.
    2. How to make friends. Preschools offers opportunities for building friendships and settling differences without the help of an adult. Kids learn how to approach others and be comfortable around them.
    3. How to be independent. Kids are encouraged to make more responsibility over themselves and their belongings. Early practice of self-care skills give them confidence in other situations.
    4. How to investigate and explore. Young children are natural scientists and they benefit from having plenty of opportunities for hands-on, self directed experimentation.
    5. How to ask for help. It’s not easy to work your way past 10 other kids to get to teacher when you need help. So it’s a must that preschoolers develop confidence and inner strength to speak up.
