my thrifty daughter

Saturday

my-thrifty-daughterI have known my daughter is a very thrifty kind of girl. Even before when she is still young until she got a job. I think people change when they grow up. For now she is not that girl anymore. Although she is more aggressive in terms on money making, she is also very aggressive in money spending. I guess that’s just what life is.

Last January, when she went home, I am surprised to see expensive stuff with her. I used to hear her before that she will save her money and will only buy inexpensive non-essential stuff. That was before when her earnings is not so good. However, when she shifts another line of work, her ideals changed.

Now she says that she needs to enjoy her money since she can’t bring that anywhere when she passes away. Well, she is right at that point. So, I leave her with that. Now she is venturing the virtual world like online shopping. Whenever we chat she keeps on mentioning an online shopping site, and even mentions UK shopping search engine. I hope that she will extend her shopping to me. I will be very happy with that. Actually she does, she ordered some make-up for me and for her only girl sibling. Isn’t she sweet? But, I still want her to save for the future.

Benefits of Cooking Your Own Food

benefits-of-cooking-your-own-foodIt is a fact that society nowadays is moving at a markedly faster pace than it used to do years ago, so it’s only natural that most of us rarely find the time to stay indoors and cook a family dinner. Aside from that this alters our life in ways we probably do not even acknowledge at the moment, it is also taking its toll on our health. This is why nutritionists advise us to try to make our dinner at least once a week, if it’s not possible to do on a daily basis.

Setting a day for the home-made dinner and holding to it no matter what is the easiest way to stick to this healthy resolution. This is also one of the best ways to avoid processed foods and the intake of unhealthy fats usually found in fast food. It will also give us more freedom, both in terms of taste and in terms of quality, because it’s a well-known fact that there is no better food than a home-cooked meal.

With this in mind, there should be virtually nothing stopping us from enjoying the many benefits of a home-cooked meal at least once a week. It doesn’t take a cooking degree to make soup or rice with vegetables.

Am I allowed to say that?

am-i-allowed-to-say-thatI haven’t updated this blog for quite sometimes this week. It’s not because I took one of those Vegas vacations. I just take a week leave from blogging. Am I allowed to say that? Actually, I am pretty much exhausted with the sleepless night doing some blog things and decided to take a day off. However, that day off, I added another day and then another that ends up becoming a week. But, it’s okay I feel much better now and very much motivated to be back in my virtual world.

Regarding the Vegas vacation, I am day dreaming about it every now and then. I have heard and read so many good things about it. I wonder when will be the time I save enough money to go there. That takes additional working hours for me.

I read the message by chance

i-read-the-message-by-chanceI can’t forget the conversation of my daughter to one of her friends. I know it’s bad to sneak to people’s business. I was cleaning her room that time so I accidentally read the messages pooping in her YM. The truth, I am also interested since I know this girl in the other line. I think my daughter treat her as her close friend and even invited her to our house before.

Good thing my daughter didn’t mind. It even started our conversation: the topic her high school friend who migrate to the US last two years. That exact that exact date, she is taking a break from her hospital job. And she is joining a contest, where she needs to accumulate points to be rewarded a free stay in participating hotels. That is a real value in money isn’t it.

After that, I decided to leave the two of them. I still have several chores to finish.

how-to-make-non-toxic-cleaning-productAll-Purpose Cleaner: Mix 1/2 cup vinegar and 1/4 cup baking soda into 1/2 gallon (2 liters) water. Store and keep. Use for removal of water deposit stains on shower stall panels, bathroom chrome fixtures, indows, bathroom mirrors, etc.

Air Freshener: Commercial air fresheners mask smells and coat nasal  passages to diminish the sense of smell. Baking soda or vinegar with lemon juice in small dishes absorbs odors around the house. Having houseplants  helps too. Prevent cooking odors by simmering vinegar (1 tbsp in 1 cup water)  on the stove while cooking. To get such smells as fish and onion off utensils and cutting boards, wipe them with vinegar and wash in soapy water.

Bathroom mold: Mold in bathroom tile grout is a common problem and  can be a health concern. Mix one part hydrogen peroxide (3%) with two parts  water in a spray bottle and spray on areas with mold. Wait at least one hour  before rinsing or using shower.

Carpet stains: Mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. Spray directly on stain, let sit for several minutes, and clean with  a brush or sponge using warm soapy water.

bringing mom at home

Disabled senior woman in a wheelchair with her nurseAt the age of 75, I decided to take my mother home. I haven’t had any second thoughts on this decision. I thought bringing her at home will make her life much better. I can give her the right food for nutrients, seat lifts since she already needs assistance in getting up. I wouldn’t mind buying her everything she needs. It’s enough for me to know that she is in the right hand.

Everything went well for the first two weeks. However, my city kind of lifestyle and her country lifestyle doesn’t seem to work. My kids tried to adjust with her, but of course there are lapses especially in terms on food. I will not elaborate on that. The problem now is with her. She wants to go back to her home with my younger sister and live the kind of lifestyle she used to live. Even though it’s against my will, I have to send her back. This is the only way I can make her happy.
